Think of your favorite movie ever. One you can watch and rewatch, and rewatch and it never gets old. I am movie obsessed, and some of my favorites are My Best Friend's Wedding, Good Will Hunting, and The Dark Knight. Who doesn't love a troubled main character who eventually finds their way? Who doesn't love Julia Roberts?!
A great movie or story contains the same formula that can be rearranged in a couple of different ways. For example, a character with a conflict is introduced, a guide comes along and helps them find resolution, the conflict normally resurfaces, and then the character becomes the hero! Yay! The ending to every great story is to avoid failure and reach success. But how does the hero get there?
Story telling for your business works the same way as a movie plot! And like I said earlier, who doesn't love being the hero of the story? As a business owner, there is a better character to play in the story. The reality is that everyone wants to be the hero of their own story, so positioning your client as the hero will gain trust with them immediately. You are elevating them, inviting them into the story, and in return making them the hero.
So where do you fit in? Now that your customer is the hero of the story, allow me to position you as the GUIDE! By introducing yourself as the guide you automatically have a position of authority. You know your product and how valuable it is, so come alongside as the hero and guide them to success.
From this point forward in all your marketing and sales efforts, your new challenge is to position your customer as the hero! You are the expert guide, and you get the honor of walking alongside the hero to success. This will feel hard at first, but I can show you how. There are proven frameworks my team can walk you through that will help you to invite your customer into your story.
